Do cows count? Cos they are literally everywhere here:rofl:
View attachment 408677

It's quite common to see herons, but they are shy and hard to get a picture up close. Red Kite birds also fly about above constantly and every now and then I see a woodpecker in our garden.

We also get foxes and martens (like weasels) which sound like screaming children when they mate o_O

What a beautiful place you live in !!!! and I love cows!!!

Here's a smattering of my local wildlife.

Black Vulture hanging out at a church, this was a very lucky spot on a very overcast and rainy day hence the poor quality, but I was still so thankful for the sighting.

View attachment 408697

Red Eared Slider relaxing on his log

And finally, my absolute favorite local wildlife that I'm so lucky and blessed to have is the majestic and regal Red-Tailed Hawk they are my main subject that I am always striving to get better and clearer pictures of. I have adored them since I was 5 years old and my love and desire to see them has never waned so it felt like the perfect way to close this post out :)

That is amazing to me, to see parrots outdoors. i grew up seeing a lot of arctic and pine forest birds (near Lake Michigan). My dad still texts me photos of the critters in his yard and on his porch.

i am in a city now, downtown. I put up a bird feeder behind my apartment building but we only saw crows, sparrows, and the occasional cardinal. But the mini cats would heap the snow right under my feeder tree so I’d have to climb a pile of ice to fill it. It got dangerous so I stopped filling after that winter.

Here’s a squirrel buddy! Every time I tried to capture his extremely nimble antics, like hanging upside down by one foot to get some leaves, he stopped & did this. :roflmao:

Yes very much so.
The last ones we had in the yard were really quite unwell with festy viruses and the vet did not want to take it neither did the council so I had to fight them to do the right thing. I do know how to dispatch of them very fast and humanely as possible from my ferreting and hunting days but it is never something I enjoy doing so other than the negative environmental impact they have on our land and local wildlife I dread having to deal with them as it is always a hassle.

They look like the processionary caterpillars we have here in Spain. I am sure they are around in Australia too. Don't get too close unless you think they are a different species.

I really like the look of the caterpillar! But clearly Zara thinks it’s venomous! I like caterpillars in general & that one’s a looker. :excited2::awww:

Suprisingly quiet! I've never heard them make much noise. It's super funny when they fly up to a tall tree and perch on a branch, looks so out of place.
